Firehouses

Sometimes while driving in my car I do not think to give the places I am passing a second look, but when I do it oftentimes surprises me as to what I see. On one such night a rather lonely building had caught my eye and I was taken aback when I realized that this particular place was actually a firehouse. The architecture did not seem to fit the stereotypical firehouse that I had come to known through cartoons and other visual media. Firehouses is my investigation into how these buildings today are in no way like the firehouses that have been ingrained into my head. Whatever happened to the two-story, red brick building with the infamous fire pole? It seems that nowadays cities are trying to disguise their fire stations by making them resemble more of the buildings around it, whether it be houses or another government building.
